Really warm and super soft hoodies to keep you warm during those cold game days. Make these your uniform when you want comfort in a designer and artistic way.
Made sustainably of natural cotton canvas this tote bag measures approximately 18" square with around 16" hand. Perfect to carry your Eagles blanket in.
Alexis and Xenia contacted me with interest in painting a wall in the outdoor space of their house. They wanted something beautiful to embellish their home and something their kids could grow with.
A private moment for their family that also had a wonderful opportunity to give to the public as well.
The top half of the wall peers over the adjoining wooden fence and is visible to the neighborhood. As a gift to the people in the community we utilized the local symbols of the area into the design.
The American Shad fish in honor of the areas name, Fishtown, and Cattails and Yellow Pond Lily's frame the wall representing the local flora in and around the nearby Delaware River.
The Shad fish faces the street and greets the people as they pass by.
All in shades of blue that match the interior tile floor in their kitchen and gives a feeling of water and painted porcelain on the clean and crisp white wall.
It is an absolute honor to be able to continue to bring color and stylized symbolism to embellish the moments in peoples lives.
I appreciate and cherish every moment of it.
"All of the animals in this mural live in and along the Delaware River within tour neighborhood! Some of them, like the Bufflehead ducks, can be seen almost every day at Penn Treaty Park. Others, like the sturgeon, are a bit more rare. As you walk along this mural, take a moment to explore the wildlife living here."

First is an incredible capture by Conrad Benner of Streets Dept where Sarah McAnulty uses the the mural for it's #1 use, to educate about the ecosystem that exists there. The mix of education and art is so intertwined here, this video might be one of the best things I have been involved in.

During the course of painting the mural a good friend of ours, Kevin Lee, would stop by and capture a photo or a quick video almost every day. He lives in the neighborhood so he would walk by on his way home from his daily journeys.
We were too busy getting this done by deadline so we were not taking much documentation for ourselves. So what you see here is an incredible friend helping out where we didn't even know we needed it.
I'm so grateful that this was captured in this way. Enjoy an edited down compilation of his documentation of the, Our Aquatic Neighbors, mural.
Another wonderful piece by Conrad Benner of Streets Dept where Sarah and I explain a little bit about what this mural is all about and how it came to be.

At the end of 2019 I was asked to paint a mural on a large wall in the entryway elevator lobby in a new luxury condo building located a developing neighborhood in Philadelphia.
At the time, I was just starting to do Flourish murals and this was a wonderful opportunity to really show what it could be at scale. In my mind, a perfect visual experience as you come and go through the building.
As they started to complete on their phase two of this luxury condo project I got a call to embellish the new building.
This time, again with a lot of creative freedom, I was asked to do something similar but they did not want to the same exact thing. They wanted this side of the building to have it's own voice.
We went with a rust color which complimented the green of the first mural and the OTTO branding. It also spoke to the rust and rawness of the history of the factories in the neighborhood.
With watered down paint I used an extremely large paint brush, normally used for staining areas like decks, to pour down the paint starting 15' in the air. Paint stained the wall with incredible texture giving the wall depth and movement.
Copper paint was then splattered overtop the textures. The metallic is an unexpected element that will shine differently as the sun pours into the space through large windows throughout each day. The copper shine will follow you as you move throughout the space.
Then on top of all of this Flourish vines and florals are intuitively painted on as if the plant was growing and taking over the wall. With brush strokes that could be related to dance steps, as the paint flows onto the wall, I'm set back into a meditative state not stopping until the wall was complete.
As a final touch and an additional layer, blue metallic details were painted along the vines giving the wall a little bit more defined unique voice.

I consider all of these Flourish murals connected. As if an imaginary root system beneath the surface connects them all as they all speak to each other.
This opportunity to have two murals facing each other is truly incredible and further proves how they are all linked.
Each mural unique with a low entry point.
As you can see here they can have an endless color combination options and there is no size or shape of space it can't take over.

I've always wanted to design artwork that could be placed on the risers of stairs. My thought was always to create tiles that could be applied professionally. Or panels cut to length that could be attached and removed easily. Something that could change with the seasons.
I've pondered how to get this done for years now.
And in that time no risers were being decorated with my artwork.
That is until a long time collector reached out and said:
It's something I've never done before.
So naturally I jump at the chance.
After discussing some colorways and going over some design choices, we ended up with just a fluent, intuitive Flourish design that included florals inspired by the flowers in one of the paintings they purchased from me years ago.
Each step is different from the other.
It changes and grows as you climb the stairs.
It's as impactful as a mural but not exactly where you would normally think a mural could be. This location pulls different interactions with it as it's not just one flat surface.
And it's the first thing you see when you walk in the house.
I'm so honored for the Yaker family to have yet another piece of mine grace their beautiful home. I love that their kids will be able to experience this as they grow through out the years.
See the before pic and some additional photos and videos below.
With love,
Sean

Beyond the business side of Nick, I know him best as a fellow artist, a creative visionary and an incredible curator.
So when he asked if I wanted to paint something in his new office for From the Future, I knew I wasn't just going to paint a mural, I was going to be a part of a space filled with tightly curated artwork and a creative atmosphere.
After going back and forth discussing what the mural would be and different locations in the office, I presented a water pattern I was working on and he immediately said he wanted that but not in the place I proposed. He said he wanted it floating in the air in the center of the space.
Knowing he would be open for experimentation I wanted to play with some metallic paint that would interact with the sun and the light of the space.
Blue and purple metallic paint was watered down and dripped over the wall to give texture. Since it's not evenly applied, the metallic sheen shines in different ways when light reaches it.
Then a non-reflective black paint is tightly painted with precision in a pattern that resembles the ripples in a body of water.
With the metallic and the non-reflective paint within one piece, the mural will never look the same from any angle or time of day as the sun pours into the space.
Honored to be in this space filled with incredible art by incredible artists.

No matter what the job or requested subject is, I will dive deep and explore what the symbols, color, technique are that will best tell that story.
I will look into the surrounding area and use elements and symbols to help drive the story of the piece. I will investigate their history and what makes this particular piece special for the patron.
For this particular piece, I got to know and become closer to the person commissioning the piece.
Why this animal was a positive symbol to his life.
I discovered this was based around his ability to figure out problems.
Clean things up quickly.
Get things done.
For that I knew the wolf had to be moving.
It’s gaze had to be aware of something that was near.
Focused on a point.
The sun, eagles wing and water lily all are different representations for the summer month of which he was born.
The turtle, a childhood memory of security.
Collecting each little piece of information and playing each one off of the other, the artwork begins to take shape on its own. It's as if the piece was already created, I was just bringing it into existence.

Digital Edition of only 30 pieces.
A five minute visual meditative journey through the dance of light.
"A piece utilizing the dance of sunlight shining through trees and vines into the studio of Sean Martorana captured during sunset. Different dances of light are layered on top of each other for an ensemble performance. Hand drawn butterflies overlay the dancing light and morph throughout 27 different patterns that flutter to the movement of steam. Their reflective presence reacts to the movement behind them. This piece is an exploration in color, movement and light."

I am really excited to announce that my latest digital work of art is now available for collection as a digital limited edition for the very first time.
I’ve been doing digital art for years.
But never really had a place to put the work.
That is until now as I was recently accepted to the Sedition Art platform and couldn’t be more excited.
This is the first of many.
Coming soon: A 6 minute colorful visual meditation.
✭ ✭ ✭ If you are interested in being put on an exclusive list to be first notified for private viewings as I release my next couple of pieces please send me your email and let me know!
]]>"Daffodil Sunset is a composition utilizing a filmed sunset superimposed over itself. On top are spinning daffodils reacting to the movement of the light and clouds. You could say this piece speaks to continuation of nature. Life to death to life again.
The daffodils were hand drawn, scanned in and edited. They are a part of a larger collection titled, AEON, that focuses on the floral and fauna dedicated to each month.
Each month has it's own main illustration. They are then dissected and it's pieces are then developed into works of art, patterns and treatments all of their own. It's creates a broad language of art and designs that every individual piece speaks to each other through the same lineage back to the main artwork.
It's a collection that is not limited to any medium."

For the latest collaboration I've been working with Donna Melvin to design and create custom knits.
I've learned so much in a new medium and from her expertise. Custom designed and 100% in the USA.

]]>“Flourish is an intuitive technique that I use throughout my art & design. It’s simplicity is in it’s reflection of life. It’s complexity is in it’s ornate composition. Never the same twice, it’s life extends through a symbolic root system that connects every surface it embellishes.” - Sean Martorana
A little process of a very small piece of the 25' x 18' @ottobrewerytown Flourish mural. A white design over a watercolor emerald texture creates a wonderful balance of chaos and control through out the piece. You can enjoy it's power from afar as well as being able to look deeper into it's design.

Great art speaks to the viewer evoking emotion, provoking conversation – yet often rooms are filled with varying elements that either blend into themselves or compete for attention. The use of complimentary home fashions, such as luxury cushions, ceramics or rugs can enhance the mood set by wall art. It is also a cost effective way to refresh a room that will have your guests talking!
This emotional connection to art and design is what I hope to achieve through the AEON collection. I set out to design a collection that has an emotional connection to you, as well as a connection among the pieces. I believe that when artwork is hung on the wall it is important for it to speak to the rest of the space, that its experience can come off the wall into tangible and useful decor pieces. The end result making you want to look closer as you notice something deeper at each glance, providing energy to the space and inspiring conversation.
As I began to design the collection, these connections became more clear and I was able to use elements from each of the original month inspired designs to expand onto different mediums giving the collection broader scope. These designs speak to the overall narrative and can adorn walls, textiles, upholstery and furnishings of interiors. I am excited to continue releasing new AEON products throughout the year providing you a comprehensive resource for your home interior needs.

I recently painted an iconic Eames Shell Armchair in collaboration with Herman Miller Philadelphia for their ANNUAL MODERN CLASSIC for Design Philadelphia at the Center for Architecture + Design. This chair will be auctioned off Thursday, 10.10.19 to raise money for Charter High School for Architecture + Design in Philadelphia.
"The Eames Shell Armchair sits on the throne of modern day design and fabrication. The addition of gold luster speaks to the great power and effect that seemingly simple forms and design can have on us, and the outsized influence they can have on art and design for decades.
Riding the line of fine art and design, symbols of life were applied freehand, allowing the curves of the chair and the flow of the paint to guide each stroke of the brush." - Sean Martorana

If I am being commissioned for a piece, most of the time there is a reason, purpose or story that is wanted in the piece. When Nick Eubanks of From the Future requested something for their new office space there was a prompt of wanting something space speaking to their name sake.
Now I don't really do "space-like" imagery but on the other side of my paint drips and raw fine art, there is a geometric side of which I manipulate shapes to create illusions of movement, life and patterns. Inspired off of their logo, designed by James Viola, I created lines as if this triangle icon was emitting energy.
I didn't want the to stop at just the lines. Since all of the production of this was very analog and From the Future is a tech company I want to include some sort of interactivity like you would with a screen. With some research I found some color changing spray paint, like the kind you would use for automobiles, that came to a close match to their brands color palette. As you walk by it the colors change from green, to blue to purple.
It is always an honor to create pieces specifically for their homes. With projects like this, it's a pleasure to have the freedom to experiment with new mediums that end up producing an unexpected results.
I did my best to document this process including "building" a "spray booth" in my STUDiO to collect the spray dust. I am still cleaning up after this project. But it was so worth it.
Thank you Nick and From the Future for this opportunity.
