Bio:
Sean Martorana is a 2001 graduate in graphic design from The Art Institute of Philadelphia.  Upon his graduation, Sean was immediately hired at a print shop where he helped customer with small design jobs. While doing so, Sean expanded the services of the print shop to include full-fledged brand development and marketing. Following the next logical step, Sean (with financial and business backing from the shop’s owner) branched off and founded the visual design, marketing and communications firm THE_STUDiO.

After over 6 years of successfully running THE_STUDiO, Sean left to begin building his own artistic and designer brand. Aside from his own line of paintings, designs, prints, and clothing/accessories, Sean has been collaborating with other artists and companies to develop designs in interior décor, clothing, jewelry, watches and other accessories. Sean has been featured in large media outlets for his innovation in art and design, including pieces created by sourcing social media for fan input.

“It’s a full collaboration between the designer and the interactivity of the consumer. The consumer brings that final brush stroke to any design by wearing it, living with it and making it a part of their lives.”

His work has been shown in galleries, featured in national publications and commissioned  by passionate individuals. Sean thrives on partnering with like-minded artists and designers. He is engaged by the cross-pollination of print media, fashion, architecture, interiors and homes. Building a company at +HE S+UDIO, he is constantly exploring and finding new way to expand his versatility and enhance his work. One cannot help but be moved by his aggressive symbolism and iconic imagery.

 The Printing Process:

MERCHANDISE: THE_STUDiO is a place that allows Sean Martorana to place his product imagery and designs and allow them to be purchased by the creative consumer. Sean considers this to be a full collaboration between his work and the customers interaction with it.  These collaborations are extended and continued through the investments of our products. The interaction between the consumer and the product is an alliance beyond measure. Sean takes great pride in the creation of high caliber products. The finest materials and inks are used to ensure the products are long lasting and appreciate in value over time. Some of the sizes are larger than normal to provide maximum impact. THE_STUDiO and the collaborating artists thank you for becoming a part of this alliance.

PRINT PRICING:
Pricing for the most part is figured out according to the size of the print. The larger the print the higher the price is going to be. Some of the prints are at a size that is larger than normal for maximum impact and to be able to collaborate with your space. We have struggled with what to charge and how to print the artwork that you see on this site. Our final decision was to print quality over cheapening the product to cut the price. Quality is number 1 not large profits.

PRINT INKS:
• High-density pigments for an extremely wide color gamut
• New formulation of Magenta pigments for extreme blues and purples
• Professional print permanence ratings
• High-gloss Microcrystal Encapsulation™ technology for reduced gloss differential
• Superior scratch resistance from improved pigment and resin chemistry
• Color is stable immediately after printing – no short-term color shifting
• Produces a black density up to 2.55 with an L value of 2.9

PRINT PAPERS:
All of the papers used print incredibly well – they are all 100% cotton rag, unless otherwise specified.

HPRUS
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth 305 gsm – a very smooth paper with a brighter whitepoint than the other photo rag papers

HPR308
Hahnemühle Photo Rag 100% cotton 308 gsm – A little tooth make this paper print very well, probably our most popular paper.

BAMBOO
Hahnemühle Bamboo 290 gsm 90% bamboo fibre 10% cotton – A so-called renewable paper (although we don’t know why cotton is not renewable) Particularly suitable for warm-toned color and monochrome prints, Bamboo really highlights the sensuality of images.

HPRS
Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin 100% cotton 310 gsm – With a soft sheen it offers an interesting finish. The unprinted areas remain matte.

CSR
Crane Museo Silver Rag a 100% cotton rag 300 gsm gloss finish paper that emulates traditional photo paper with a creamy finish

EDITIONS

ESTIMATED EDITIONS:
This is a new term coined by +HE_S+UDiO because our prints, before this store, have been sold with out tracking the size or quantity sold. They were not printed with the quality of inks and paper that the prints in this store are printed with. So we are estimating that from this point on once the designated number of prints is sold, the artwork will be put away never to be printed in this manner again.

LIMITED EDITIONS:
Digital Studies prints are in “Estimated Editions” of 1500 prints. Fine art prints are usually printed in limited editions of only 150 prints. Photography, books and other merchandise are designated on a per-product basis.
